Giving Back to the Land

This property along with many others were burned in the Courtney Fire in 2014. The forest has recovered in many ways, but it also changed how we think about stewardship. The Pinecone exists because of this land—and this is one way we give back to it.

Seasonal Tree Planting Program

From November through February, guests are invited (not required) to plant a pine tree during their stay.

How it works:

  • We’ll provide the tree, tools, and optional locations of where to plant within our designated reforestation grove site.

  • You can place a small stake next to it with your name + date (or a short message).

  • You’ll receive a complimentary Pinecone token as a keepsake.

It’s simple, hands-on, and meaningful—something you can come back to and watch grow over time.

“What you do makes a difference, and you have to decide what kind of difference you want to make.” -Jane Goodall

Make an Impact Today

If you’d like to help us plant more trees outside the Nov–Feb guest planting season, you can contribute to our Tree Fund. Donations go directly toward trees and planting supplies to expand the grove over time.

Suggested amounts: $10 (supplies) • $25 (one seedling) • $50 (multiple trees/supplies) • Custom

Reforestation Grove

The grove isn’t one fixed spot—it’s a growing collection of planted trees across the property. As new trees go in each season, the grove expands into approved planting zones. That lets us plant where conditions are best (sun, soil, drainage) and helps new trees establish without crowding older growth.
